New Joker film wraps up

It seems that nowadays it is impossible to stay away from superhero movies, everywhere you look there’s a superhuman saving someone, action-filled movies, and huge budget films. The humble budget of $55 Million this film does seem like something else.

While you could argue that it is not a superhero movie but rather a comic based, and it is, it is a villain movie. The Joker is one of the most famous villains of all, and certainly, it could be DC’s most popular one, so its appearance is always a big deal.

The new Joker-based movie will be another “origins” one, a most interesting by the way. While it is still completely canon, it is important to remember that it is not inside the DC Extended Universe, which by the way, is the “main” DC movie universe, that means the universe that contains Batman V Superman, Wonder Woman, Justice League, Aquaman, etc…

And while it is not in the DC Extended Universe it certainly is not part of Nolan’s Dark Knight saga universe. This could very well the beginning of yet another DC universe for films. It is rather hard to keep track of just what DC is trying to do, starting the movie after universe with TV shows, movies, and even animated films, in which DC excels.

Joker is indeed the beginning of DC’s “darker” universe. Anon DCEU universe with darker, more serious potential, it could start a movie series of even some villains or darker, less popular but potentially great superheroes within DC.

About Leto…

As we’ve mentioned before, this new movie does not belong in the DCEU, while Leto’s Joker did appear in Suicide Squad, which does belong to that main universe. While Jared Leto’s interpretation of the character was rather disliked by pretty much everybody and only added about to 15 minutes in screen-time, it IS DCEU’s Joker, meaning that he will also, reportedly, be getting his own movie later on, and also another one with Harley Quinn, played by Margot Robbie.

This is not the first time we get to see an origins story for the character. Probably the most famous and fan-favorite The Killing Joke, by Allan Moore. Of course, The Killing Joke was also recently adapted to be a movie, only that it was made into an animated film.

While Jack Nicholson’s Joker also kinda has an origin story, you can see that this character’s past always seem to vary. And exactly this is where Alan Moore got it done in the most amazing way. We all know just how completely crazy is the Joker, or at least how crazy he appears to be, and while this is true, in The Killing Joke, the character says one of the most excellent quotes regarding his origins “If I’m going to have a past, I prefer it to be multiple choice!”

After that quote, the creators can take some liberties with their creativity into making this story an amazing one, and we certainly hope to see that on the screens, this Character deserves some justice, quite literally
